The D - 2023

Huge surprise, we went back to City Boy's hometown for more bad Tigers baseball.  Wonderful weather, great to spend time with friends and the Tigers managed to win more than expected.  While we unfortunately didn't make it to the Detroit Institute of Art this time, it was a lovely visit.  See you next year!

London, Milan, Lake Como, Luzern

And just like that, we're back!  No doubt huge sighs of relief from both of our loyal readers.

Anywho,  we enjoyed a lovely holiday taking in London and a small slice of Western Europe this past February.  It was Country Girl's first visit to each destination and second for City Boy (London aside), who did a bit of a test run last year.  Happy to report it was a smashing success.

Every destination was amazing in its own way, food was largely good with some absolutely spectacular meals along the way and, surprisingly, the weather was almost perfect.  No precipitation the entire trip and only a couple of days without sunshine.  Not what City Boy expected for a February holiday in the northern hemisphere.

Layover in Boston
While the highlights are too numerous to cover without writing a novel, have to give a couple special shouts out.  One to City Boy's London based colleague who kindly took time out of her incredibly busy life to hang out and provided expert eat/see/do suggestions.  Another to our gracious and kind friends in Lucerne.  Holy shit, Fasnacht (Carnival) in Lucerne is quite the party.  Big ups to the front desk staff at Hotel Lucerne (Autograph Collection) for the above and beyond service and insider eat/see/do suggestions, especially this tremendous park overlooking the harbour and downtown.

Summer Staycation 2021

A burn ban scuttled our grand plans of returning to camp at Lake Wenatchee this year.  We've toughed out burn bans camping there a couple of times and are in full agreement that camping just isn't as magical without fires.  Rather than pout and moan, we turned that time into a fabulous staycation instead.  Museums were visited, a box got rocked (karaoke), tennis played and lots of eating.  All in all, think the whole clan had a relaxing time and enjoyed it tremendously.
